Solar jobs are more than just creating solar panels for roofs, or selling solar devices to customers. Why not be a little more creative and actually target a solar job area that is receiving very little attention in the media? What better way to increase your chances of landing a green solar job while claiming job security and potentially strong income known only to entrepreneurs and investors? Here are a few solar jobs that go beyond the traditional 9-to-5’s and set you on the path for a truly fulfilling green career.
1) Independent Solar Consultant: Just as a financial consultant provides clients with advice on how to save and invest, an independent solar consultant advises customers on the different options available for establishing a solar energy device on their properties. You provide an opinion on solar panels that clients trust simply because you are independent consultant, not a representative of a specific company, and this can bring more business for you.
2) Solar Appraiser: Just as a real estate appraiser determines the value of a residential or commercial property, a solar appraiser determines the value that a solar energy system adds to a home or business that is for sale. You also might figure out whether a site might be adequate for the addition of a solar system in the future.
3) Solar Broker: In this role, you are responsible for giving clients pricing, funding and material options for solar power systems. You facilitate the process of collecting bids from designers/solar energy installers to give your clients the best-priced options. You also educate clients about the financial benefits of becoming green.
4) Solar Financing Consultant: If you have potential clients who are interested in installing solar systems but simply cannot afford them, why not become their solar financing consultant? In this green job, you help them to secure funding from government programs or money from banks that are willing to lend for solar device installations.
