Green energy has received a lot of attention since President Barack Obama entered office in 2009, and there’s no doubt that green energy is the way of the future in some capacity. A wide variety of options are available to the job seeker who wants to spend his time and money in a potential career area that actually can be lucrative, secure as going green remains a top need worldwide, and simply a job field that makes you feel as though you are doing something right for your world.

Here are top four job areas that will allow you to break into the green energy sector easily this year – and at decent salaries, according to SimplyHired:

Green Educator ($36,000/year)

Obviously as the government puts more focus on the need to train to enter green energy fields, the demand for instructors who can teach students about these green energy areas also is on the rise. If you enjoy teaching others at the college level and are passionate about sharing knowledge of the opportunity-providing green energy field, then becoming a green educator is a viable option.
In an educator certificate program such as that offered by The Evergreen Institute Center for Renewable Energy and Green Buildinig, you will learn concepts related to solar electricity and other areas and then complete two installation workshops to acquire hands-on experience. You then can enter into an agreement to use the institute’s educational materials.

Green Energy Technician ($53,000)

This perhaps is the career field that most people think of when they hear about energy jobs, and as customer requests for solar panels at homes and businesses remain strong nationwide, these jobs will not be going away anytime soon. If you enjoy working with your hands, you can take advantage of the opportunity to install solar panels and wind turbines – and learning the nuts and bolts of the field can take as little as two weeks in a community college certificate program.

Green Energy Planner ($71,000)

If you enjoy higher education and enjoy the idea of being a leader in the booming green movement, then becoming a green energy planner is a fitting career path. You can earn your bachelor’s degree and even pursue your doctorate degree if you wish to do so in an effort to master how to make sure that various markets are filled with renewable energy products. Working with government officials who regulate green energy also is an opportunity in this career field.

Energy Auditor ($65,000)

Everyone wants to save money, and with the growth of energy efficient appliances and heating systems taking place in residences and businesses alike, you’ll always find a client that needs a little help with tracking and measuring its energy loss. Just two weeks in a community college certificate program, and the acquiring of auditor certification when working in a residential setting, can lead to a career that allows you to not only help people save money but also save lives by measuring carbon monoxide exhaust levels in a building.
