The green technology fight here in America is not over. The unemployed are fighting for jobs. The United States is fighting in a global economic battle to obtain market share in growing green industries. Environmentalists are fighting for the welfare of Mother Earth. A recently published Huffington Post article mentions that green technology essentially is a key, and U.S. Green Technology agrees that it really can open the door to all that we’ve been fighting for.

The Huffington Post article is titled “Green Technology: The Key to More Jobs, Higher Exports, Cleaner Environment, Better Reputation?” and was written by Stuart W. Holliday, president and CEO of Meridian International Center. The story explains that the current economic crisis should be a catalyst for the United States to pursue new investments in green energy rather than simply waiting for another energy crisis to occur.

A light bulb (preferably an LED one) just should have gone off in your head. I know it did in mine. Putting more time and energy into green energy as reliance on foreign oil remains a ticking time bomb simply is common sense. The nation obviously needs more jobs and green energy entrepreneurs: Just look at our current unemployment rate of 8.5 percent in the United States.

Plus, if putting more focus on green technology will generate more U.S. exports and make the country more independent in the energy industry, then that certainly wouldn’t be a bad addition to the U.S. economy – and to the nation’s reputation at a time when some argue that the country is losing its economic power and edge. And I’m sure we all could use some extra savings on our home or office utilities bills. If it actually is possible, then why not pursue it?

Admittedly, green technology likely won’t totally solve all problems related to the modern energy crisis or fully eradicate the need to rely on fossil fuels anytime soon, but it surely will help. We need more engineers who are willing to have faith in the green energy movement combined with investors who see the promise of this up-and-coming technology.

Green technology indeed is the key to a brighter future in America – one that is as bright as the LED lights that should dot the landscape in coming years.
