From outdoor heating lamps to solar collectors, many companies in January introduced environmentally friendly products in Chicago – the home of U.S. Green Technology – during one of the largest global expositions in the heating and refrigerating industry. What does this mean? It means that pretty much every industry you can think of is taking green technology seriously: It’s becoming a staple of modern living. The heating and cooling industry definitely has been hit by the green technology bug, and the bite is big.
The International Air Conditioning Heating Refrigerating Exposition took place in January at the Chicago McCormick Convention Center and allowed 35 nations’ experts to gather and promote their unique green technology products. For example, JSP manufactures polypropylene sheets that are totally recyclable, and an idea arose to use these sheets to create a new version of lightweight solar panel. The panel is used as a source of electricity and thermal heating and utilizes both the sun and water to create green power.
It’s all part of the industry’s push for sustainable heating and cooling, a relatively new concept that focuses on allowing buildings to not be merely users of energy but actually generators of it.
In addition, Solaira promoted its outside infrared heating systems that actually detect a person’s activity and thus assists with the conservation of power, achieving a 92 percent efficiency rating.
Linuo Solar Group Co. of China further revealed a solar collector that consists of several copper pipes that absorb heat and channel the distribution of thermal air, thus boosting efficiency. A many-split air conditioner from Midea also uses solar power and was highlighted at the international exposition.
The conference featured a whopping 60,000 people and broke records by including more than 2,000 companies in the heating/cooling industry.
As green technology continues to infiltrate this field and other major industries, expect it to infiltrate your home even more as the nation strives to become greener and finally achieve its goal of energy independence.
