Samsung Replenish: The Most Eco-Friendly Phone Out There

The Samsung Replenish is a green cell phone, made from recycled and recyclable materials.

There aren’t too many green, or eco-friendly, cell phones on the market. They are growing in popularity as more consumers are becoming aware of green and eco-friendly products, but green cell phones just aren’t of the same quality as the rest of the cell phones out there. One of the models that comes closest is the Samsung Replenish, available from Sprint.

The Samsung Replenish is an Android smartphone made from 82 percent recyclable content. The phone also comes in recyclable packaging, which is made from 80 percent post-consumer waste and utilizes soy ink. Besides that, the Samsung Replenish has all the other features that come with a smartphone: a QWERTY keyboard, Internet browsing capabilities, and a 2.8 inch touch screen.

One of the coolest, and unique, features to the Samsung Replenish is the optional solar-powered battery. Just snap off the cover and let the phone bask in the sunlight. Although one hour of sunlight only generates about 20 minutes of talking time, it’s a good option to have if you need to charge on the go, or if have the ability to let your phone sit on a window sill or in direct sunlight on your desk. There’s still the option of plugging the phone in an outlet, but solar recharging is something that’s unique to this phone.

The phone is not only green in and of itself, but also allows for the download of the Green ID pack. This is a set of green living or eco-friendly apps and widgets, which can allow you to shop for green products, find recycling spots, or stay up-to-date on green and sustainable news. The Green ID pack is available to more phone models than just the Samsung Replenish, but it makes a nice compliment for the green minded.

Best of all, this green phone is easy on the wallet. It’s only $50 with contract, and serves as a great phone for the first time smartphone user. When using the Samsung Replenish, you’re not only on top of the latest technology, but you’ve also helped the earth at the same time.
