I Want a Green Job… Where Do I Begin?
Sometimes the hardest part of seeking a new career is knowing where to start. That can be especially true when you’re for something as specific as a job in the sustainability, or “green,” industry (essentially, a green job).
Staffing giant Robert Half compiled a list of the 10 Best Job Search Websites, which includes the big guys like CareerBuilder, Indeed, and LinkedIn. These sites are completely useful in the search for a new green career and there are absolutely jobs to be found. It’s easy enough to navigate the different job search websites and utilize their filters to find a green job. Many of the same positions will be posted across the different sites, so just be sure you aren’t applying to the same opening multiple times!
But if you’re looking to dig deep to find specific positions on job boards built specifically for the green industry, there are other, more relevant lists you should be taking a look at. Sites like Green Collar Blog have compiled huge directories of all the major green job boards. You can even look for regional job boards in the list to find work near you or where you want to be.
Our favorites include Green Job Search, Environmental Career and GreenBiz. With these sites, you’ll be able to narrow your search criteria even further and better find the specific roles you’re looking for.
Remember that U.S. Green Technology is a partner with CareerBuilder and thus offers green career seekers the perfect resource for job searching, resume writing, interview tips and more; you can search more than 1.5 million jobs to find the right green job for you!
As always, be sure you meet the qualifications necessary for the roles you’re applying to or be willing to put in some work, possibly in the classroom, to get there. Enjoy the hunt, and best of luck to you in your search for a dream career!
