If you are interested in learning more about Asian culture while enjoying a few slurps of pho soup and exploring mangrove forests in a nature-filled adventure that is second to none, consider taking an ecotourism trip to Vietnam this year. Although many people’s minds go to the swamplands and the troubling battles that took place in this country decades ago, they often don’t realize the beauty in this nation’s more than 15,000 faunal species and 13,000 floral species – the beauty that puts Vietnam on the list of top green ecotourism spots worldwide.

Vietnam years ago began emphasizing the importance of tourism to its local economy – and particularly ecotourism, which allows the country to meets its present economic needs while not degrading the country’s outstanding biodiversity. In fact, when you visit Vietnam, you will have the opportunity to view a wide variety of animals and plants and admire breathtaking scenery you might never have imagined finding in this nation. Vietnam actually is one of about 16 countries with the highest level of biodiversity present in a plethora of ecosystems.

The sea cow – also known as the manatee – is in danger of becoming extinct, but this creature is present in Vietnam’s seagrass for picture-taking and admiring. Coral reef ecosystems also exist on the country’s coastline, while a whopping 79 wetland areas are treated with importance by the country’s National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

For the luxury hotel aficionado, Vietnam also features establishments such as those on Mango Bay on Phu Quoc, the country’s largest island. The resort in this country actually has replanted many trees in the nearby rainforest while also using solar energy – thus giving you a highly green reason to experience the high life for a week or two out East.

If you also like seafood, then Vietnam is your go-to destination – a country complete with banana shrimp, mud/blue crabs and squid for the eating.

In the ecotourism world, the country of Vietnam is a hidden gem that slowly is coming to the surface as an attractive site to visit not only to experience the culture of this Asian nation (which features 54 peoples) but also to experience nature itself – ranging from national parks and hot jungles to sweet fruit gardens, hills and chilly mountaintops.

A country know for its tragic, dark history – characterized by prolonged war – Vietnam is paving the way for a highly green, sustainable future by preserving its natural beauty for generations to come, and this summer is an ideal time to explore it for the first time.
