Getting a 21st Century education in green technology begins with eco-minded paperless teaching practices. So it goes for the very innovative New Media Middle School in Columbus, Ohio where a January 18 open house will be teaching students and teachers all about Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, courtesy of technology leader Samsung.

Imagine the cost savings when schools no longer need books, not to mention how happy this learning apparatus will make tree huggers! Focusing on technology that’s also green to supply information rather than traditional methods is surely the wave of the future for educational institutions everywhere.

Modernization and sustainability work well together in a program such as this. Tailoring the learning experience to each student is also on the agenda since curriculums can be easily adjusted and adapted on an ongoing basis as needed to fit individual learning habits and preferences.

A WiFi-enabled tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is easy for travel. Measuring a width of only 8.6 millimeters it’s a thin and light yet large screen tablet powered by the Android™ 3.1 (Honeycomb) platform. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a 10-inch touch screen, plus numerous Android applications are accessible.

This new style of learning is sure to excite students, teachers and parents by fostering green technology as a basic principle behind education. New Media Middle School opened in August 2011 and was specifically created to help bridge the gap for urban students to excel in their studies.

As academia and technology are moving closer than ever before, this intelligent institution’s goal is to combine the tech tools with a thorough education and to ultimately be completely paper-free. One can only envision how these children will be excited about going to school every day and more open to learning at a young age.

Samsung is dedicated to helping children develop a new curiosity by delivering their quality products to this and other US public schools across the country. The Samsung program STEM, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, shows how a technology company can provide leadership even for youngsters.

Through this unique STEM program, Samsung and its partners which include Microsoft and the National Environmental Education Foundation are offering a contest totaling one million dollars to revolutionize our educational system. More details about this as well as an application can be found on Samsung’s “Hope for Children, Solve for Tomorrow” website.

The upcoming media open house is slated for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 to exhibit this new advancement in teaching methods adding new meaning to green technology in the US school systems. New Media Middle School is located at 43 South Douglass Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205. To get more details or RSVP contact Claire Khoury at or phone (214) 414-3322.

Perhaps it’s more evolved to consider, with green technology programs such as this, we can no longer simply retort the old saying “youth is wasted on the young.” With this kind of training, wouldn’t you like to be a kid again?
